Clerk of Course Report Glan Y Gors

The meeting went off well although there were numerous visits to the Clerks Room for enquiries over the three days.

The racing was close as it always is and that resulted in attendances before the clerks but as we have said in the briefings we will investigate any report we receive from the marshals/observers and clerks out on the circuit.

There were a number of competitors penalised for infringement of technical regulations including

Greg McKenzie, Jacob Hunstone, Lewis Taylor, James Beumee and Callum McKechnie

Those penalised for driving offences were Philip Rawson, Sam Macleod and Ashley Hand. A number of other competitors were interviewed but no action was taken on those matters other than verbal warnings being given.

Of those other drivers given verbal warnings numerous were because they had been reported for overtaking others on the “slowing down lap” after the chequered flag had been shown. At that time Yellow Flags are being shown by the marshals. Most of the reports stated that the offending driver overtook others still fast at “racing speeds” and the argument the “he was going very slowly and I had to overtake him” will not be accepted in these circumstances. Please note that Regulation Q.17.2 applies in this instance. Stay in line behind each other on the slowing down lap.

On the matter of Flags, we keep a record of the Flags shown at the Start Line and on Friday there 30 Warning (B/W) Flags; 3 Technical (B/Orange); on Saturday 31 Warning (B/W) and 6 Technical (B/Orange) and on Sunday 8 Warning (B/W) and 1 Technical (B/Orange). We would like to see fewer incidents that require flags being shown over the three days and that depends on your driving.

On a very serious note James Kellett was before the Stewards of the meeting for an assault upon Philip Rawson and was excluded from Round 5 of the Championship, 4 points being placed upon his licence. Violence will not be tolerated.

John Felix ~ Senior Championship Clerk of the Course

Terry Bateman ~ Championship Clerk of the Course

Geoff Strong ~ Judicial Championship Clerk of the Course

Finally Jed Jeffries’ appeals against decisions made at Whilton Mill were heard by the Stewards at Glan Y Gors and the appeal against the Clerks decision that he Drove Incompatible with General Safety was dismissed (the penalty stands) and on the appeal that he left Whilton Mill before 30 minutes had elapsed after his race was allowed and the penalty no longer stands.

We look forward to Genk in a few weeks time.
