Here are some answers to common questions we receive

Q: What format will FKS run in 2010 ?

A: We're running 12 rounds, on six double-header weekends. On each round you get TQ, 2 heats and a final.

We've listened to your comments and we've increased the number of races. We're running all double-header meetings for 2010; that makes a total of 12 rounds. Race days start with Timed Qualification, then two heats, and finish each day with a final. Trophy presentation follows each evening, and it's a fresh start on Sunday morning, so if you run in to problem on the Saturday, there's a good chance of pulling things back together for Sunday's round.

While we've concentrated on improving the format for 2010, we've cleaned up a few points in the points scoring system. The special points for timed qualification have been removed, but you can still drop a whole weekend if you can't make it that month, or you can drop the equivalent number of races if you fall on bad luck, and of course you can spread those dropped races over the whole season.

Q: How do we join FKS ?

A: If you hold a National A kart licence, and are running at the front of the pack, then FKS may be right for you.

We ask you have competed in karting for at least a year, and have entered some major events with stiff competition before you try out for Stars. Entry forms can be found under the "Competitor Information" section. You'll find links at the top for our contact details. Please either drop us an email, or give us a call.

We appreciate FKS is not right for everyone; some just want good old plain karting without the frills. Unfortunately that's not what FKS is about; we can't promote young talented racing drivers by being quiet and reserved.

Q: Cost: Why is your registration fee higher than other championships ?

A: All your racing fees are paid up front so you can budget for the season. To make things a little easier around Christmas time we offer payment by instalments.

FKS has many good causes that promote karting to the general public. We are incredibly privileged to be at the pinnacle of British Karting and we believe it is our responsibility to not only showcase our sport, but also to invest in it too.

We visit Sainsbury stores promoting Go-Motorsport and the local karting circuit. We are present at the Autosport show both in the display hall and in years gone by in the Live Action Arena. We have a large media presence with regular articles on the web, in written publications and the occasional mention on TV and radio.

We invest in up-and-coming drivers through our Scholarship programmes, test days, and our extensive contacts within motorsport. On promotional events, our exhibition stands carry information leaflets from ARKS and Go-Motorsport and we are on hand to explain to the general public how to start karting.

Q: Is the FKS hype really true ?

A: FKS is all about giving young drivers a platform to showcase their talents and gain a stable foundation in Motorsport. Many of our "Old Boys" go on to achieve a successful career. True, not everybody is cut out to be an F1 driver, but many have found a path in other disciplines such as design, engineering, or PR.

Our high media profile ensures all the on-track action is reported, and our inside contacts puts Stars on the watch list of the important names. Events like the AutoSport awards at the Groverner Hotel on Park Lane in London have our Champions applauded by an audience of motorsport's most famous personalities, teams and drivers.

We enjoy the endorsement of Lewis Hamilton; our most famous "Old Boy" and patron of the Championship. If you want to get noticed, we believe FKS is the place to be.

Q: When do entries close ?

A: Entries are open now, and close at the end of the Autosport International Racing Car show (17 January).

If you would like to chat, come along to either show, we will have a large presence at both. We hold our annual awards ceremony at Autosport, and Competitors in our 2009 championship get a free ticket to the entire show.
